Open Roles
Head Coach
The Head Coach position will have the following responsibilities:
-
Participate in pre-season conversations to facilitate goal and strategy setting for the season
-
Be present at and evaluate all try-outs for the team and be the primary voice in selection of the roster following try-outs
-
Develop team strategies including offensive and defensive sets, player roles, set plays, and other strategies as needed for the success of the team
-
Develop and carry-out practice plans based on set team strategies
-
Be primarily responsible for in-game strategy including selection of offensive and defensive sets, clock management, time-out management, and knowledge of applicable Premier Ultimate League rules
The following is a relative outline of the time commitment expected for the Head Coach
-
The anticipated time-frame for the season, including pre and post season commitments, is beginning of January- end of June
-
Two to three pre-season meetings to develop team vision, expectations, and strategy
-
Two multiple hour try-outs and post-tryout evaluation (try-outs are likely to be January 7-8 in Columbus)
-
Three to four weekend and/or weekday practices. The Head Coach will have opportunity for input in setting the practice schedule
-
Six or so regular season games, with two to three being hosted in Columbus and two to three requiring weekend travel to other cities
-
Championship weekend attendance and coaching. This event may require weekday travel and commitment and will likely be in mid-June.

This position CANNOT also be a Current Player in the Premier Ultimate league
Assistant Coach
The Assistant Coach position will have the following responsibilities:
-
Participate in pre-season conversations to assist the Head Coach in facilitating goal and strategy setting for the 2020 season
-
Be present at and evaluate all try-outs for the 2020 team and provide input on selection of the roster following try-outs
-
Assist the Head Coach in developing team strategies including offensive and defensive sets, player roles, set plays, and other strategies as needed
-
Assist the Head Coach in developing and carrying-out practice plans based on set team strategies
-
Assist the Head Coach during game play as needed with in-game strategy, line calling, or other assistance as needed
-
Must be comfortable driving a rental van vehicle if required by the team during travel
The following is a relative outline of the time commitment expected for the Assistant Coach

The anticipated time-frame for the season, including pre and post season commitments, is the beginning of March - end of June
-
Two to three pre-season meetings to develop team vision, expectations, and strategy

Community Engagement & Outreach Coordinator
This position will have the following responsibilities:

Work in coordination with Columbus Ultimate Disc Association, Columbus High School Ultimate League, and other youth ultimate to organize community and youth clinics during the season
-
Field requests and coordinate with Columbus Pride players to attend area high school practices
-
Work with the Columbus Ultimate Disc Association on other community engagements requests that they have as an important partner for our team
-
Generate and share other community and fan engagement ideas and organize Columbus Pride staff, volunteers, and players to assist in carrying out ideas
-
Design and work with the Game Day Manager to plan game day activities to engage fans (ie t-shirt/disc toss, half time competition of youth teams, etc)
-
Run thank you campaigns for sponsors (ie, thank you card mailing)
-
Assist Game Day Manager in finding and scheduling volunteer staff for game day functions
The following is a relative outline of the time commitment expected for the Community Engagement Coordinator
-
A few one-hour staff meetings prior to the season start and a few meetings coordinating with community partners
-
A few hours planning and carrying out a season kick-off event for community partners and fans
-
During the season few hours each week coordinating events, planning home game fan activities, and scheduling volunteers for home games
-
This position CAN also be a Current Player in the Premier Ultimate League
Game Day Manager
The Game Day Manager position will have the following responsibilities:
Home Game Day Experience
-
Work with Community Engagement Coordinator to organize game day activities including entry promotions, tailgate games and break-time crowd activities
-
Correspond with General Managers and with visiting team to assist as needed with finding lodging, arranging food, etc.
Home Game Day Logistics
-
Work with General Manager to organize and hire required Game Day Staff including photographers, observers, and trainers and work with Community Engagement Coordinator to schedule necessary Volunteer Staff
-
Coordinate with other staff in creation of the Game Day scripts (minute by minute commentator and announcer scripts) in accordance with guidelines provided by the Premier Ultimate League and sponsors
-
Assist the host facility with setting up the live stream, per guidance and specifications provided by the Premier Ultimate League
-
Manage all game day activities including making sure all volunteer staff are in place, the live stream is working, game day activities are carried out according to schedule, etc.
-
Assist with set up and clean up prior to and after games
-
Assist with set up and clean up of locker rooms for home and away teams prior to and after games
-
Work with Finance Manager to ensure all staff (players, trainers, observers, coaches, managers, etc.) are paid following games as needed
Away Game Logistics
-
Work with Finance Manager and General Manager to organize logistics for away game travel. Logistics for away game travel could include transportation for the team (bus, flight, etc), housing as needed, and food as needed
-
During away games, carry-out tasks as needed including assisting media with needed information on the team, provide information as needed to PA’s and livestream commentators, and coordinating the sale of/setting up/selling Columbus Pride merchandise
-
Work with Finance Manager to ensure all staff (players, coaches, managers, etc.) are paid following away games as needed
Additional Responsibilities
-
Work with host facility coordinator to secure food and drinks vendors as necessary
-
Work with other staff to assist in selection, purchase, and printing of tickets and other printed promotional game-day media as needed

The anticipated time-frame for the Game Day Manager position, including pre and post season commitments, is the end of March - end of June

Weekly hour-long meetings preparing logistics for the season with existing Columbus Pride staff and partners
-
Several hours each week during home game weeks coordinating all required logistics
-
Attendance at games, both home and away (away as available), and set up and tear down time as required for games
-
Columbus Pride will be looking to bring on at least one Game Day Manager that IS NOT A CURRENT PLAYER in order to handle in-game logistics as needed
